North Star Forest Materials (NSFM)
North Star was Weekes first acquisition back in 1986. It is the only pure wood commodity focused operation in our company. They sell framing and MSR lumber, plywood and OSB (when available) to retail lumber dealers and truss manufacturing plants across a 500-mile geography, a much larger trade area than our DC’s typically service.
North Star’s value proposition is to buy rail car quantities of Douglas Fir/Larch, Western SPF, Eastern SPF and Southern Yellow Pine species in #2 visual grade and machine stress rated (MSR) structural grades of 1650, 2100, 2400, 2700 and 2850 and bring it into our Saint Paul, MN and Riverdale, IL distribution centers. We then sell it to retail dealers, truss and panel plants in highly mixed truckload quantities for faster just in time delivery. Unique to NSFM we allow customers to specify tallies they prefer and purchase from us.
